life with liberty, week 3…

being that today is the last day liberty is 3 MONTHS old, i figure that i have procrastinated long enough was good enough excuse for reflecting back on WEEK 3 with our baby sprout. and i must say it was fun to relive those first weeks… and to see how far our precious baby girl has come!

at a mere 3 weeks old liberty was so adorably tiny…

and still scaly from all that wonderful amniotic fluid…

and she was still nursing like a champ…

during week 3 we had the awesome privilege of celebrating a very thankful thanksgiving with my madre. on “prep day” (the day before turkey day) jarod and my mom began the arduous task of making sure that i was able to enjoy some of my favorite foods… even though i was of absolutely zero use in the kitchen… or otherwise.

okay, so maybe i was of some use… after all, i was able to snap some pictures of our baby sprout in her birthday suit!

on thanksgiving day the festivities began with a favorite davis boy’s breakfast – cereal, with real (read: not shelf) milk.

by lunch time all of our favorite thanksgiving foods were decorating the countertops. yum!

jarod’s all-time favorite thanksgiving dish is broccoli-cheese casserole.

my all-time favorite is a toss-up between pumpkin pie…

and sweet potato casserole. both of which serve as a meal and dessert in my book!

of course, every thanksgiving meal requires the secondary staple… bread, or in our case, homemade drop biscuits.

even with all this yummy goodness, jarod was most excited about this : a butterball turkey, imported from the states…

this thanksgiving we were blown away that just a year before we were celebrating our first thanksgiving as parents… thanksgiving 2010 we were especially grateful for many answered prayers!

…and for a day set aside so that we could reflect on the many, many, many ways we have been blessed. we have so much to be thankful for.

a classic sleeping baby pose to close out a very wonderful thanks-filled day…

these pictures reveal the awesome power of love as our baby sprout was ever so slyly laying claim to my heart…

and they remind me to enjoy even the most simple of moments with our sprouts…

for every moment has the opportunity to become a precious memory.

during our very warm and humid thanksgiving week sterling had the honor of helping decorate the public CHRISTmas tree in the guest house.

and though he wasn’t a big fan of the patience required for such an undertaking, it was the perfect opportunity to partake of an american tradition with lao lao.

this picture was literally one of those moments when you think to yourself, “i wish i could capture this for always…”

thankfully, having a new baby in the house gives way to having the camera easily accessible at all times.

so that you don’t miss moments like these…

always having a camera on hand also allows you to capture some interesting expressions…

and because i’ve become a crazy-big-camera-tottin’-kinda-mommy i was able to remember this: a stuffed dog that came attached to a package of disposable diapers… and how much sterling loved that silly free puppy…

and i was reminded that our lil’ sprout did his fair share to put away a grove full of oranges in our 7 week stay…

and i saw once again how liberty’s sweet face was able to capture and melt my heart simultaneously…

and i was able to document (’cause who would believe me otherwise?) when sterling became fond of coloring… and coloring inside the lines…

and i was able to capture memories for the sprouts… of the time when their lao lao traveled ½ way across the world just to see and meet them…

as well as capture liberty’s budding personality… and fashion sense… J

and though not the best image, i was also able to capture us girls simply hanging out together…

as well as document sterling’s ocd tendencies… our lil’ sprout does love to organize and categorize!

but best of all, having a camera always on hand allowed me to capture our last moments with lao lao…

and it allows me to forever remember the gift we gave her just before she left… 3 pictures that so adequately summarized how very thankful we were that we were able to spend this special time in our lives with her.

life with liberty, week 3 can best be summarized as thank-filled.

  1. Jennifer I just love the way you tell about what is happening in your lives. You and Jarod both have such a very special gift in how you exress what is happening in yours and the sprouts lives that it’s almost (I said ALMOST) like being there.
Thank you both so very much for taking the time and energy to keep the web page up to date with your pictures and stories. Even though it may not be said enough, it is VERY appreciated.
LOTS OF HUGS (XXXXXX) AND KISSES (ooooooooo)
