on may 10th liberty turned 18 months old.
for some reason this reality was/is a huge milestone to me.
maybe because her “personality” is exploding.
maybe because the baby days are quickly slipping by as she is now running (half-hazardly) towards toddlerhood.
and towards the days when i no longer count her age according to months, but years.
so on this day, mother’s day, and the day that i document this milestone, i feel that the words from the poem “before i was a mom” is all too fitting:
“before i was a mom
i didn’t know the feeling of having my heart outside my body.
i didn’t know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby.
i didn’t know that bond between a mother and her child.
i didn’t know that something so small
could make me feel so important.”
and i’ll add: “i didn’t know you, so small, could make my heart grow so incredibly big./i didn’t know the joys of having a daughter.”
i love you liberty praise.
happy 18 month birthday!
go easy on me, okay!?!
