it didn’t take me but a day or two to realize my 5 R’s for the new year was not complete.
i forgot a key component that will help us move more confidently & joyfully into the new year.
love this bonus R!
& here’s some encouraging verses to help us to remember to rest in 2014.
“He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms & carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those who have young.” Isaiah 40:11
“Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain. In vain you rise early & stay up late, toiling for food to eat – for he grants sleep to those he loves.” Psalm 127:1-2
“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.” Psalm 91:1
“Come to me, all you who are weary & burdened, & I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28
“Stand at the crossroads & look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, & walk in it, & you will find rest for your souls.” Jeremiah 6:16
…and the one we often hear at funerals, but holds so much hope & encouragement for today…
“The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear o evil, for you are with me; your rod & your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil, my cup overflows. Surely goodness & love will follow me all the days of my life, & I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” Psalm 23
from SheReadsTruth.com: “Notice the various images of peace & rest, & allow them to sink in. meditate on the words awhile.
rest. peace. stillness. provision. guidance. comfort. restoration. assurance. confidence. security. blessing. anointing. belonging.”
